Frequently Asked Questions
What does Afridence actually do, in one sentence?
Afridence builds and runs the research infrastructure — verified participants, field data collection, and analysis — that governments, NGOs, and companies use to make decisions backed by evidence rather than assumption.
How is Afridence different from a traditional research agency or an AI research tool?
Afridence pairs a verified, identity-checked participant network with trained researchers, using AI to speed up quality checks and analysis — not to replace the judgment behind a finding. Traditional agencies often skip verification; AI-only tools often skip the human researcher. Afridence keeps both.
What's the actual process for starting a project with Afridence?
You share what you need to decide — through a consultation or a written brief. Afridence scopes the methodology around that decision, recruits or draws from its verified participant network, runs fieldwork with real-time quality monitoring, and delivers evidence structured for the audience that has to act on it.
How does participant verification actually work?
Every participant is identity-verified and profiled against demographic and interest criteria before they're eligible for any study — including document confirmation and admin review. This happens once at onboarding, so by the time fieldwork starts, every respondent in a sample is a confirmed, real, unique individual.
How are research participants paid, and when?
Participants are invited to specific studies based on their profile. Once they complete a study and Afridence's team reviews and approves the work, payment is added to their in-platform wallet balance. They can then request a withdrawal to their bank account, which Afridence's admin team verifies and processes.
Can Afridence run projects outside Nigeria?
Afridence's core verified participant network and field infrastructure are based in Nigeria, with capacity expanding into other African markets. Reach out with your target country and Afridence will confirm current coverage.
How is client data and respondent data kept secure?
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is role-restricted (a client can only ever see their own project's data), and respondent personal information is never shared with a client in identifiable form unless a specific study's terms explicitly require and consent to it.
What does a client actually see once a project starts?
Clients get a dedicated dashboard scoped to their own project — real-time fieldwork progress, response counts, project timeline, and study status — rather than waiting for a static report at the end.
How long does a typical project take?
Timelines depend on sample size, methodology, and geographic scope — a rapid-response survey can move in days, while a full baseline-to-endline MEL engagement runs over months or years. Afridence scopes realistic timelines during the initial consultation rather than quoting a generic figure.
Does Afridence handle both quantitative and qualitative research?
Yes — structured surveys and statistically powered samples for quantitative work, and interviews, focus groups, and ethnographic fieldwork for qualitative work, including deliberate mixed-methods designs where a question needs both the "what" and the "why."
What role does AI actually play in Afridence's research?
AI assists with fieldwork quality monitoring, flagging anomalies, and speeding up pattern analysis across large datasets. It does not replace the researchers who design methodology, interpret findings in context, or sign off on what a finding actually means — every AI-assisted output is human-reviewed before it reaches a client.
Can Afridence support donor and government procurement processes, not just informal enquiries?
Yes — Afridence has a dedicated proposal path for organisations that need a formal Terms of Reference response before any conversation, alongside the standard consultation option for those ready to scope directly.
How much does a project cost?
Cost depends on sample size, methodology, geography, and timeline — Afridence doesn't publish flat rates because a household survey and a national policy evaluation aren't comparable. Share your scope through a consultation or proposal request and you'll get a cost structure specific to your project.
What happens if I'm not sure which service I actually need?
"Not sure yet" is a valid, normal starting point — a specialist will help scope the right approach (or combination of services) during the initial conversation.
